Hypertension is an incurable disease.
You have this disease all the life, even if sometimes its values are normal according to the treatment, diet or lifestyle.
Hypertension requires proper care for the following:
- Diet
- Lifestyle properly
- Treatment with drugs
- Control blood pressure
- Diet and body weight
Hypertension Types
In literature there are two main types of hypertension (Primary and Secondary) and four types of hypertension that are less common.
Depending on the type of hypertension, it is posible that cause can be known or unknown. It is suspected because hypertension results from a combination of factors according to diet, treatment, body weight and lifestyle.
Primary hypertension
Primary hypertension is known as essential hypertension and it is the most common type of hypertension and accounts for 95% of cases. There is no single identifiable cause for high blood pressure.
Secondary hypertension
Secondary hypertension is a less common form of the disease . It occurs from of a specific condition like disorders including sleep apnea, tumors, and kidney failure.
The other four less common types of hypertension include:
malignant hypertension,
isolated systolic hypertension,
white coat hypertension and
resistant hypertension.
Treatment of hypertension
The goal of treatment of hypertension is to reduce the blood pressure so that you have a lower risk of complications in the body. It is better that you have a blood pressure goal and monitor its permanet.
In literatures, there are many different medicines that can be used to treat high blood pressure, including:
- Alpha blockers
- Beta blockers
- Calcium channel blockers
- Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors
- Diuretics
- Central alpha agonists
- Renin inhibitors, including aliskiren (Tekturna)
- Vasodilators
- Angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs)
